About the Project:

We aim to promote awareness of Nordic Walking as an effective and enjoyable physical activity for all abilities. Nordic Walking is seen as a form of health level walking as well as fitness level walking and will help provide a new option of physical activity in Gwynedd.

Training for Volunteer Nordic Walking Leaders will be provided for enthusiastic pro-active people who are interested in establishing new Nordic Walking groups within local communities in Gwynedd. Support and advice will be provided in setting up these groups.

The main community areas to be targeted will be the Communities First areas of Blaenau Ffestiniog, Dyffryn Nantlle, Pen-y-Groes and the ward of Peblig in Caernarfon, although other groups in Gwynedd who are encouraging health & physical activity have shown an interest.

The specific Walking Poles will be provided initially and then walkers / groups will be encouraged to purchase their own.
